Bannatyne: The musical!

The entrepreneur, philanthropist, TV dragon, and Business Matters columnist Duncan Bannatyne is set to see his rags-to-riches life turned into a musical.

The Sun Newspaper and the Press Association wires are today reporting that the award-winning director Gordon McDougall is producing a two-hour unauthorised account based on the 61-year-old's book Anyone Can Do it.

Basis for the musical

The play will premiere in November in Shepton Mallet, Somerset - where Bannatyne recently rescued  the four-star, Grade II listed Charlton House from closure, buying it from administrators earlier this year, saving over 60 jobs.

Whilst this musical is unofficial, Bannatyne himself sent a link to the article in the Sun out on Twitter, so it is probably safe to assume that the on-screen short tempered Scot is not offended by the prospect of being portrayed on stage.

Away from Dragons' Den, and investment pitches which are sometimes regarded as 'ridiculous ideas' by Bannatyne, he actually has keen whit and sense of humour. Back on April Fools day he pulled  a practical joke which had many fooled when he announced, on Twitter again, that he was renaming his  'Bannatyne Health Clubs' to 'Armstrong Health Clubs' after the companies managing director Nigel Armstrong citing that he was "too old to be the face of a gym business at his age".

The other Dragons are very competitive and so as Peter Jones previously invested in the band Hamfatter can we expect a song based on the 6'7" entrepreneur topping the charts soon?

'Their song is about Peter & I', Duncan Banntyne on Robbie Williams & Gary Barlow's new duet

Both Banntyne & Jones openly joked yesterday, that the new Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow duet was actually about based on the two of them as in previous series of Dragons' Den Jones had accused Bannatyne of being a 'sly little shit' after undercutting him on an offer of investment before going on to be two of the closest dragons.
