Grasp the web for your business with British Library’s Web in Feb

The workshops have been designed to help SME’s and entrepreneurs use the the web as a business tool and there are a number of inspiring speakers attending to share their expertise on a range of topics throughout the month.
Ask an Expert – Throughout the month, a number of free half an hour sessions will be running where David Warrilow, a patent attorney with expertise in helping develop new online and mobile technology will be available for confidential meetings. Protecting such innovations isn’t straight-forward and gaining help to understand your options will be invaluable.
Introducing Trademarks – On the 1st February, this two hour workshop explores trade mark protection and how to use free web databases. Almost every business has intellectual property of some sort – in its words, logos or pictures, or a combination, and the British Library’s information experts can guide you through the information available on free web databases with delegates having the opportunity to try them out.
Digital Marketing: Search Engine Optimisation for Small Business – On the 7th February, this four hour interactive session looks at a business case study demonstrating the power of SEO and how to improve it. This particular business started off on page 72 of Google, and in just three months, made it to page 1.
The session shares the secrets of how this was acheived and how it can be replicated with your business. 
Using eBay: How to Sell your Products Online and Make Money – Again, on the 7th February, this four hour event looks at how it’s not all about being online, but beeing seen online. Led by George Wallace from Araide Training, this workshop gives insight into thr growing opportunities of e and m-commerce. 
With a recent report by retail guru Mary Portas highlighting that by 2015 the UK will be spending more than £40bn a year over the internet and through mobile devices, this isn’t an area to miss! 
Introducing Copyright – On the 16th February, this two hour long informative session looks at how to control the use of your original material and the economic rewards that copyrighting can bring to your business. 
Manage Your Business on the Web – Using web applications can help you save precious time and money. With round the clock access you no longer have need to worry about ‘backing up’ your data at the office. In this workshop, the Business & IP Centre’s numbers coach Johnny Martin will talk through the best web applications out there which can help you run your business, many of which are free. 
Learn to Write to Sell – On the 21st February, this two hour workshop looks at how a lack of new leads and new sales are invariably the things that hold a business back from growing. This session is aimed at helping you sell your way out of tough economic times.
Whether a new start-up or an established business, this interactive workshop will be a great opportunity to learn strategies that help boost sales.
The Business Blog – Live! – Business & IP Centre manager and business information expert, Neil Infield, writes a popular blog covering the latest news and know-how for entrepreneurs. Running on the 21st February, this event offers a new format for a ‘live blog’ where Neil will lead a debate on some of the more interesting and pertinent topics of recent months.
