UKs Franchisor excellence set to be recognised in annual awards

This year’s Awards, once again sponsored by Express Newspapers, will champion the UK’s most outstanding franchisors that have driven business success. Previous winners have included organisations that have implemented impressive strategies, best business practice or taken innovative approaches.

There are three awards now open for entries:

The bfa HSBC Franchisor of the Year Award – This Award is presented by the judging panel to the most exceptional franchisor who demonstrates outstanding all-round performance
The HSBC Franchisee Support Award – This accolade recognises the excellent initiatives that franchisors have in place to provide the best possible levels of support for their franchisees, helping maximise their potential
The Express Newspapers Brand Builder of the Year Award – This Award highlights the innovative methods franchisors are adopting to effectively develop their brand to boost their potential for the future

This will mark the 24th year of the Awards and the bfa urges exceptional franchisors, of all sectors and sizes, to put themselves forward for this great opportunity. Despite another challenging economic year, the Awards highlight positive business stories which have emerged as well as presenting a chance to win a quality industry-recognised accolade. Winning these Awards provides recognition to share among peers as well as customers, suppliers and individuals considering a career in franchising.

Last year’s Franchisor of the Year Award winner, Autosmart, the largest manufacturer and supplier of professional vehicle cleaning products to the automotive trade in the UK, was recognised for its commitment to investing in research and development in order to diversify its product offerings and cut costs.

Sophie Atkinson, Managing Director at Autosmart International Ltd, said: “Winning the bfa HSBC Franchisor of the Year Awards was fantastic motivation for our staff and franchisees. We have been franchising for more than three decades and are committed to adapting and changing our business model to meet the needs of franchisees, customers and the auto industry to provide the highest quality products and services whilst continuing to build on the efficiency of the business.”

Cathryn Hayes, Head of Franchising, HSBC, said: “Each year, the bfa HSBC Franchisor of the Year Awards showcase successful franchising and we are looking forward to hearing from inspirational franchises championing best business practice. The HSBC Franchisee Support Award seeks to reward those franchisors who can demonstrate that they are providing high quality support to their franchisees, enabling them to thrive and grow, even in these challenging times.”

Brian Smart, Director General, bfa, said: “The bfa HSBC Franchisor of the Year Awards bring to light the exceptional stories that franchisors have to tell, regardless of size or sector. The overriding message we’ve witnessed at the awards is that franchising continues to be an effective business model which can thrive given the correct strategy and support. We hope that the success stories this year will encourage and enthuse others to consider franchising as a viable business structure for themselves.”

Franchisors can enter one, two or all three categories. The deadline for entries is Friday 5 April and national finalists will be invited for interview with the judging panel on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 May. Winners will be announced at a gala dinner on Thursday 4 July held at the Honourable Artillery Company, London.

The bfa HSBC Franchisor of the Year Award is open to full members of the bfa and both the HSBC Franchisee Support Award and the Express Newspapers Brand Builder of the Year Award are open to all franchisor members. Full terms and conditions can be found at www.thebfa.org.
