How does your personal brand impact upon your business?

I wear jeans and shirts (on a smart day) or T-shirts (on a normal day). Some people don’t like that. They believe that the business world should be suits and cufflinks. That’s fine. There are lots of other businesspeople whose brands will appeal to them. Mine attracts the kind of people I like to work with.
I’ve seen people with great value products or services make a mess of their businesses because they have an abrasive personal brand. Or because they fail to have a personal brand at all, and think that the old-school, faceless corporation style will earn them respect.
It doesn’t matter if you have a sleek logo and flashy website if you’re not going to back it up with a strong personal brand. People buy from people, and with so much competition out there you need to stand out.
