A serious course for serious Amazon sellers

Amazon

Despite the negativity surrounding the Brexit uncertainty, British employment is booming. Companies report plans to increase hiring at all levels in the coming year. This is up from just three months ago.

But what if you don’t want to work for someone else? What if you’ve got something completely different in mind? There’s an answer for you too.

Your Own Company

Working from home is a dream come true for many people. Setting your own hours, never having to answer to another unreasonable boss, rolling out of bed and working in your pajamas, and enjoying the financial freedom that comes along with it is what motivates people to search high and low for that golden opportunity.

In the dawning years of the 21stCentury, for many people, selling on Amazon isthat golden opportunity. Is it right for you? Let’s take a look a the pros and cons so you can better make that decision for yourself.

The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly

Like the Clint Eastwood movie of the same name, there good points and bad points to everything along with the occasional really ugly scenario, including selling on Amazon. Let’s start with the last one.

●      The Ugly

One piece of advice to remember is the simplest of all – Amazon doesn’t care about you.

Amazon is in business for itself, not for you. It will let you piggyback on its success because every sale you make on Amazon’s platform is money in Amazon’s pocket as well as yours. So it definitely has an incentive to sell your products.

But, if you don’t make money, or if you losemoney, Amazon won’t care. It’s going to make money whether you do or not. So don’t go into this thinking you’ll be partners with Amazon and it has a vested interest in your success. Nothing could be further from the truth. Amazon is in business for Amazon.

●      The Good

Amazon makes money on aggregate sales. The more sales that people make on its platform, the more money it makes. This gives it an incentive to make its platform as user-friendly as possible. It posts all kinds of helpful hints and tips for sellers to use.

In addition, there are many programs that help you to sell on Amazon. For a standard fee, they will train you in all the ins-and-outs of how to sell your products and how to improve your ranking on Amazon’s lists of products and search results. Amazon is so popular and so well known that many people make their own fortunes helping other people make fortunes on the platform.

There’s a lot of money to be made on Amazon. Traditional brick-and-mortar stores are shutting down across the globe as people realize how much simpler and easier it is to order online. The amountof business hasn’t changed. What’s changed is where it’s located and how you can get a piece of the action for yourself.

●      The Bad

One of the myths about Amazon is that it’s free and easy. No, it’s not. If you’re starting a business selling on Amazon, you’re starting a business. It’s no different than starting a business anywhere else.

If you don’t have any start-up capital, you’ll have to take out a loan to take some of the courses offered and to purchase your initial products from the manufacturers they’ll teach you how to contact. Business loans aren’t free. Do you know how much a business loan will cost? You need to. You need to include it in your business plan along with the million-and-one other things any good businessman or businesswoman would do.

Course Work

If you plan to go into business selling on Amazon, then you need to commit to paying the price and doing the course work come what may. No one succeeds on a part-time basis. It’s all or nothing.
