Olympic gold medalist Sally Gunnell on business and sport

Sally Gunnell

Not only is Gunnell a gold medal winning athlete having won gold for 100m hurdles at the 1986 Commonwealth Games and Olympic gold in 1992 for the 400m hurdles.

She currently stands as the only female British athlete to have won Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth titles. To add to that achievement, a year after her Olympic triumph, she was made an MBE and further made an OBE in 1998.

If that is not impressive enough Gunnel has gone on to create her own successful business working with companies getting the best out of their teams through healthy lifestyles.

We caught up with Sally ahead of the games in Rio as she teams up with Xero to find out why goal setting and getting the right team is so important in business.

A recent report from Xero found that a third of successful entrepreneurs have turned to a mentor or support group for advice about their company, compared to just 14 per cent of respondents who ran businesses that had to close. Listen below to see what Sally has to say about business and sport.
