Getting to know you: Nicko Williamson founder of Climatecars

What do you currently do?
I run Climate Cars, an environmentally friendly car service in London which provides a green alternative to black cabs or minicabs. I started the company over 4 years ago and we will turnover £3m plus this year and a healthy profit.

What is your inspiration in business?
I have always been inspired by starting and building something. With Climatecars it has always been my intention to build a sustainable business that gives londoners an alternative to other taxi services at a competitive cost with a reduced impact on the environment.

Who do you admire?
I admire the entrepreneurs of our time, people like Nick Jones, Jimmy Goldsmith and Howard Schultz.

Looking back, are there things you would have done differently?
Of course! But it is through your failures that you learn. I made countless mistakes when planning and launching Climatecars, but we always dusted ourselves off and moved forward.

What defines your way of doing business?
I am curious, so ask lots of questions and believe in thorough research before embarking on a anything. I like to think I listen to people and this has enabled me to learn and hopefully deliver a service that our clients want.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
Do your research, get a good numbers person and plan for the worst. Make sure you pick apart your business plan and have a backup plan if you do not hit your projections.
