Getting to know you: Tony Banks

What do you currently do?

I am the Founder, Chairman and MD of Balhousie Care Group.  This is a care home company based in Scotland, delivering residential and nursing care to a varied client group including elderly, dementia, learning difficulties and mental health clients.  Also, I have a substantial property portfolio, a helicopter company and I am a partner in two development and construction companies

Who is your inspiration in business?
There are a number of people who have inspire me from all the “celebrity” entrepreneurs to the hard working small corner shopkeepers.  People who strive for achievement, who aspire for better things, who inspire others and who give back to society all give me inspiration and hope.  Scotland gives me huge inspiration.  As a small country we have contributed hugely to the world through innovation and entrepreneurship.
Whom do you admire?
I admire achievers, people who have overcome adversity to achieve.  I admire my friends, family and work colleagues for supporting me on my journey.

Looking back what things would you do differently?
I don’t tend to look back too often.  What happened yesterday, I cannot change so there is no point in worrying about it or regretting it.

What defines your way of doing business?
Business should be done honestly and with integrity.  Allow people to make a “buck” and always leave something in it for the next man.  Be diligent and ensure that you cross the “T’s” and dot the “i’s”.  Work hard, play hard and live life to the full and always give something back.
