Universal Fuels founder becomes youngest entrepreneur to raise investment through equity crowdfunding

The young founder was all smiles when discussing the impact this investment will have on the company. He says, “Universal has been enjoying a fantastic rate of growth ever since our launch in 2009, this investment will only further fuel our expansion. We have big plans and taking on investors who believe in the company is key to achieving our goals.”

Oliver turned down offers from venture capital/angel investors in favour of the crowdfunding route. He comments on why, “Crowdfunding is already beginning to make inroads in replacing traditional methods of business finance and I think that it will become a main avenue of funding in the future. Importantly, only the pick of crop get funded. As these companies succeed and investors see high ROIs, crowdfunding is likely to become a mainstream option for many small and start-up businesses.”

Oliver was impressed with how straight forward the legal and administrative side of crowdfunding was using Crowdcube. He says:  “Crowdcube’s legal team took the time to run through everything with us. All forms, agreements and new articles were provided to us, which we signed and returned to the solicitors and Companies House. It was very simple.”

Oliver Morgan started running a solar panel business, Universal Solar, when he was at school.  He also half owns a recruitment company, Capital Recruitment.
