Entrepreneurs are the rock stars of the business world

That’s why Emma Jones, Enterprise Nation founder and StartUp Britain co-founder, has announced details of a [ilink url=”http://www.enterprisenation.com/event/startupsaturdaytour/”]seven-date UK tour with StartUp Saturday[/ilink]  – a day-long event to create the UK’s entrepreneurial ‘rock stars’ of the future.

In the context of a dramatic increase in the number of people looking to turn their talent or idea into money-spinning business, StartUp Saturday will play to audiences in Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Belfast, Edinburgh, Newcastle and London, giving them the tools and encouragement to start-up.

Emma said: “We’re not expecting groups of screaming teenagers, but we are hoping to play sell-out gigs to tomorrow’s business owners – people who want to take their passion, hobby, skill or who have spotted a gap in the market and want to know how to turn it into a great business in a day.

“StartUp Saturday delivers all the content people need to start and grow a business and gain the confidence they need to take the next step.”

Jones, who was awarded an MBE for services to enterprise in the Queen’s Jubilee Birthday Honours List, will start by encouraging people in the North West to turn a hobby or a passion into a money-spinning idea at Manchester City Library on June 1, the first event on her whistle-stop tour of the UK.

The tour is supported by two high profile sponsors. World-leading accountancy support network the ICAEW and quick-thinking virtual office provider Penelope have both pledged their backing.
The ICAEW’s enterprise director Nigel Hastilow said: “We’re thrilled to be part of the first national tour of StartUp Saturday. We look forward to meeting the start-ups and providing them with expert financial guidance from our ICAEW chartered accountants who will be available on tour.”

Joanna Swash, director at Penelope, added: “We are delighted to be supporting the StartUp Saturday initiative alongside Emma Jones and her team. Our partnership with Enterprise Nation is a great fit for Penelope as we are both dedicated to helping start-ups succeed and grow.

“We know how important it is to have quality advice and support in the early days of a new business. Starting and running your own business can be difficult, but working alongside great people makes all the difference.”

StartUp Saturdays offer would-be entrepreneurs and companies within their first two years of trading all they need to know about starting and growing a business; from making sales to creating a website, managing finances and raising profile.

The StartUp Saturday tour is being supported by the British Library and IP Centre, with five of the events to be hosted at their regional libraries and a final event in London as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week.
